#22 Fourth Competition for Teacher Generated Materials / Zoo Animals / Grade 4

Overall Objective: Ss will learn about Zoo animals. Use degrees of comparisons

Language Objective: Ss will learn new vocabulary connected to the topic: (lion, lion, giraffe, bear, zebra, monkey, elephant) use comparative adjectives and write sentences: (faster, slower, stronger, taller, heavier, funnier, longer, braver…)

Civic Education Objective: Zoo animals.

Curriculum Connection: English curriculum grade IV.

Class Context and Needs: Elementary classroom, basic level learners.

Materials: laptop, handouts, pictures, board.

Activities: warm up, brainstorming, matching activity, yes/no activity, create sentences.

Assessment: Ss make sentences, using comparative adjectives.

Give students handouts, words of zoo animals. Students will identify descriptions and match them, then check.

Ask Sts to circle the adjectives, I write them on the board.

Explain comparative adjectives and Give students handouts and ask them to do yes/no exercise, then check.

Give students handouts. Read and write recently learnt adjectives. Speak about zoo animals. Sts make the sentences, compare the animals. They can add other zoo animals and speak about them too.
