The music featured on this compilation showcases a sample of talented student musicians and singers from schools of the English Language through Civic Education program (ELCE) in the Republic of Georgia (a U.S. Embassy, Tbilisi-funded project administered by PH International). In addition, talented local musicians perform from regions including: Samegrelo, Ajara and Kvemo Kartli. Songs featured include polyphonic singing, traditional Georgian folk melodies and arrangements ("popuri" or "medley") of popular Georgian melodies. ELCE Samegrelo Music and Drama Festival – June 10-13, 2013

The ELCE Samegrelo Music and Drama Festival, under the partnership of ELTT Peter Bohan, American Corner, ELCE participant/teacher Elene Changelia and Tsalenjikha Public School #1 was an unqualified success. Three events, including two music performances and a play, brought together the musical and acting abilities of ELCE participants and their students. ELCE-participant school Tsalenjika Public School 1, under the direction of Elene Changelia, performed “Poetry is the Heart of Mine”, an original script written by Elene Changelia. Special thanks to U.S. Embassy, Tbilisi (which funds ELCE) Press Attache Jeremy Richart, who was in attendance, American Corner Zugdidi and PH International.
