Bethany Hamilton
Bethany
Hamilton was born in Hawai in 1990. Bethany began her surfing career at age 11.
One morning on October 31st 2003,she went surfing with her best
friend,Alana Blanchard. The weather was perfect,but suddenly some sharks
appeared. There were other people in the water nearby but they couldn’t help
her.Ashark attacked her bit off her left arm. Initially feeling no pain,she
noticed the water around her turned red,her left arm had been severed nearly to
the shoulders.
Did Bethany stop surfing?Not at all! A
month after leaving hospital,thirteen-year-old Bethany wasin the sea again
because she was determined to surf. In 2004 MTV Books published Bethany
Hamilton’s book “Soul Surfer”. Now Bethany Hamilton surfs for the USA National
Team and she also collects money to help disabled children all around the
world.
