Overall Objective: Students will be able to:
1. Improve their speaking skills by describing
life in the North, practicing vocabulary, making notes and answering questions
about the Sami people.
2. Elicit and identify specific information
about the topic through the listening activity by matching small texts to
pictures.
Language Objective: Using Present Simple and/or Present
Continuous Sts will practice the vocabulary and grammar connected with life in
the North.
Civic Education Objectives: Students will elicit information about
clothing and national symbols of the Sami people and their way of life.
Curriculum Connection: Language and cultural skills developed during
the lesson are outlined in the Georgian English Language Curriculum (Mary Bowen,
Liz Hocking “ENGLISH WORLD” Pupil’s Book, level 4).
Class Context and
Needs: 5th
graders; there are 31 students in the class. There are not any disabled
students or students with special needs.
Materials: Handouts, blackboard and chalk, poster ”Life
in the North”, markers, MiniWBs, Pupil’s
books, Workbooks, coloured pencils.
Activities: Warm-up, reading and speaking activities
for comprehension.
Assessment: Formal assessment: Teacher gives
formal assessment according to rubric with certain criteria and politics.

then writes it in the given boxes in order to elicit the secret information
(“snow and ice”) that you can find in the land of the Sami people.(StB
Ex.2-3, p.114)
