#9 Second Competition for Teacher Generated Materials / Professions / Grade 4

Overall Objective: Students will be able to learn new vocabulary connected to the jobs.

Language Objective: students will be able to do several activities using new vocabulary about professions.

Civic Education Objective: students will use vocabulary of different jobs and profession about themselves.

Curriculum Connection: They will connect new vocabulary and reading skills previous learnt materials.

Class Context and Needs: The class is motivated so they need more encouragement to express themselves better.

Materials: projector, handouts, word-map, pen, pencils and paper.

Activities: Worm Up , Pre-teaching vocabulary, mini dialogues, reading, group working activities about professions.


Assessment: Students will be given commentaries

 Students raise their hands or call out different professions. (Some of them may call out the words in Georgian as they don’t know many professions in English.)

Pre-teaching of vocabulary connected to the topic. Using the flash cards and word map I teach them new words. Then I show them posters and I ask the student to guess its meaning.

Mini dialogue:  Show a modeling What I want to become and Why?

Students in pairs do the same in turn.

Read the text in detail and do information -filling.

Group work:  Divide class into 4 groups and give each group one profession they should write at least 4-5 sentences about these profession.

This is Boney. Boney is an African elephant. It is an actor in the circus. It works for THE WORLD CIRCUS. Boney works very much. Boney can ride a bike, juggle, and dance but it cannot play any instruments. It loves the circus and it works every day from 4:40pm to 22:00pm every evening. Before the shows it has fruit, bread, and water for dinner. Boney is a very good actor. Boney lives in the circus. He lives in a circus cage with other elephants. Its cage number is 33 and it sleeps on the 1st part of the cage. Boney loves apples but it doesn’t like bananas. It loves sweets and chocolate.
